Pet stain and odor removal
Cleaning the surface of a carpet does nothing for pet urine, because most of the contamination is underneath: in the backing, in the pad, and sometimes in the subfloor. Any process that stops at the pile is a deodorizer, not a repair.

Short answerWe inspect with UV light before quoting, because the contaminated area is usually three to four times larger than the visible spot. Treatment runs at three levels: topical enzyme, sub-surface extraction, or pad replacement. Where urine has stripped the dye, the color loss is permanent.
Finding it before quoting it
We inspect with a UV light with the room dark. That shows the full footprint, which is almost always three to four times larger than the visible spot, and it shows old accidents you had forgotten about. We measure the affected area and quote from that.
The levels of treatment
Light, recent accidents respond to a topical enzyme treatment and normal extraction. Repeat spots need sub-surface injection and a specialized extraction tool that pulls contamination back up through the carpet. Saturated areas need the carpet pulled back, the pad section cut out and replaced, and the subfloor sealed. We tell you which level yours is and what each costs.
| Level | What it reaches | When it is enough | Holds long term? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Topical enzyme | Carpet pile only | Light, recent, one-off accidents | Yes, if caught early |
| Sub-surface extraction | Backing and pad | Repeat spots in the same area | Yes |
| Pad replacement | Pad cut out, subfloor sealed | Months or years of marking | Yes — the only fix at this stage |
| Deodorizer spray | Surface air only | Never, as a repair | No — returns with humidity |
What we won't promise
Urine is acidic when fresh and alkaline as it dries, and that swing strips dye out of the fiber. If the color is gone, cleaning will not bring it back — that is a dye repair or a replacement, and we will say so up front.
What's included
- UV inspection to map the real affected area
- Enzyme treatment with proper dwell time
- Sub-surface injection and extraction for repeat spots
- Pad replacement and subfloor sealing when needed
- Honest call on permanent dye loss before you pay
- Safe for pets and children once dry
What pet treatment costs and why it varies so much
There are three levels and they are priced very differently. A topical enzyme treatment with normal extraction handles light, recent accidents and is a modest addition to a standard cleaning. Sub-surface injection and extraction, which reaches the backing and pad, is priced by the affected square footage measured under UV. Pad replacement — pulling the carpet back, cutting out the contaminated section, sealing the subfloor and re-stretching — is the most involved and is quoted per area. We show you the UV footprint before quoting so you can see exactly what you are deciding between.
Cat urine is harder than dog urine
Cat urine is more concentrated, contains more urea and uric acid, and carries a sharper odor at a lower volume. Cats also tend to mark repeatedly in the same location, often against a wall or in a corner, which means the contamination goes deeper and reaches the subfloor and sometimes the baseboard and drywall more often than dog accidents do. When a cat has been marking a corner for months, honest expectations matter: the carpet and pad in that area usually need replacing, and the subfloor needs sealing, before the smell will ever be gone for good.
Vomit, feces and what to do before we arrive
For anything solid, remove what you can with a spatula or stiff card rather than a cloth, because rubbing drives material into the base of the pile and spreads the affected area. Blot liquid with white towels using body weight rather than scrubbing. Do not use a supermarket spot remover with optical brighteners or a bleach-based product on a colored carpet — both cause permanent light spots that no cleaner can reverse, and we see the result of that far more often than we see the original stain. Cool water and patience are safer than anything under your sink.

(516) 894-2880Questions we get
Will the smell come back in humid weather?
It does if the source was never removed — humidity reactivates urine salts left in the pad. Sub-surface extraction is what prevents that.
Can you save the carpet or do I need new pad?
Depends on saturation. One or two accidents, usually yes. Years of repeat marking in the same corner usually means pad replacement.
Is the treatment safe for my dog?
Yes, once dry. We use enzyme and oxidizing treatments, not solvents, on pet areas.
How much does pet urine removal cost?
It depends which of the three levels your situation needs — topical, sub-surface, or pad replacement. We measure the affected area under UV and quote from that before starting.
Is cat urine harder to remove than dog urine?
Yes. It is more concentrated and cats tend to mark the same spot repeatedly, so contamination reaches the pad and subfloor more often.
What should I do to a fresh accident before you arrive?
Blot with white towels using body weight, no scrubbing, and avoid supermarket spotters with bleach or optical brighteners — those cause permanent light spots.
